driving rain created hydroplane conditions and kept down speeds. commuters did have to splash through a good amount of standing water. the wind also did some damage bringing down a few branches on highway 280 near burlingame and knocked down an overhead wire in pacifica. it reached its maximum intensity during the morning commute. what's the worst part about driving in the weather like this? >> being careful of other drivers. you never know. taking it slow and easy. just make sure you don't slip and slide. >> it's the first one, one of the first ones. so it's okay. but we have to be cautious. as long as your tires are good, you should be okay. it's like the first one. it's okay. we have to be cautious. as long as your tires are good, you'll be okay. >> reporter: the bands of heavy rain move south down the peninsula as forecast. just started breaking up in different areas within the past hour.
